Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to be face-to-face with a plaintiff attorney as you attempt to defend your medical care of a patient with an unfortunate outcome? Hopefully, you will never be in this situation. Physicians have worries about being sued for malpractice. Attend this program to learn important insights from closed malpractice claims and to observe a dramatization of malpractice litigation with three outstanding physicians and Top Gun plaintiff attorneys!

Physicians benefit from an increased awareness and understanding of lessons learned from closed malpractice claims. Over one-third of medical malpractice claims are reported to include an allegation of diagnostic error. This session will look at the most frequent types of diagnostic errors and high severity malpractice claims related to diagnostic error.  Please join us in person (at the Orange County Medical Association office) or via Teams for an informative program that will provide 1.5 CME Credits.

Objectives

At the conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Recognize top risks, related to diagnostic error, identified in closed malpractice claims
  • Identify two strategies to decrease diagnostic error in my medical practice
  • Develop an action plan to improve my documentation in two specific areas of the medical record
